Junior Golf Ireland is the body that oversees the development of grassroots junior golf in Ireland for the governing bodies.
It is a partnership between PGA Irish Region, the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) and the Irish Ladies Golf Union (ILGU). Based in Kildare the work is led by the Director of Development, implemented by its Regional Development Officers and overseen by a voluntary committee comprised of its partner organisations.
The aim of JGI is to provide resources and support services to school and clubs at local level, which will result in regular committed golfers, sustainable club structures and perhaps even young golfers who aspire to follow in the footsteps of our Ryder Cup and Curtis Cup players. JGI wishes to create an awareness of golf among children and young people in both primary and secondary schools and to create pathways for those children to become regular golfers at club and elite level.
JGI runs a number of projects linked to coaching, schools, training, child protection and girls in golf.

The PGA does not currently have a Coach Education Manager in Ireland and therefore do no operate an open coach education programme. Courses may be arranged to support specific development activity within clubs and the JGI programmes in order to train volunteer coaches as an identified need arises. All PGA assistant professionals based in Ireland will have access to the Level 1 and Level 2 courses as part of the PGA training.
