Children In Golf

The PGA is committed to ensuring that all children and young people have a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf.

PGA is a stakeholder in the Children in Golf partnership

The PGA is a stakeholder in the Children in Golf (CiG) partnership of Governing Bodies and organisations of Golf throughout Great Britain and Ireland.

Each organisation has committed to work in partnership to ensure that the sport of golf is one within which children and young people involved can thrive and flourish in a safe environment.

The PGA is committed to ensuring that all children, young people and vulnerable people have a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf and the Association's policy is that all PGA professionals working with children are regularly CRB checked.

Children In Golf has worked together to produce the child protection policy and procedures for all involved in Golf to adopt, adapt and adhere to.

To support the implementation of the policy and procedures, this resource pack has been produced. This has been designed to support clubs, coaches, Golf Professionals, members and staff to fulfil their roles and responsibilities in safeguarding children and young people within Golf.

All individuals working and participating in Golf have a role to play in developing a safe culture for children and young people to participate within the sport. The resource pack provides a step-by-step guide on how and when to implement the correct policies and procedures within clubs and county golf, and who should be involved. The EGU have developed 'the golf mark' award which can be gained by golf clubs that excel in child safety and youth development.

The PGA advises all its members in contact with children or vulnerable adults to attend a Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults course and undertake an Enhanced CRB check if in the UK, Disclosure Scotland if in Scotland and Garda Vetting or Access NI if in Ireland. For more information contact Julie Howells at PGA Headquarters for documentation and advice at membership@pga.org.uk or telephone 01675 470 333.
