A host of Midland pros including a recent former winner will be in action at next month's PGA Senior Club Professional Championship at Northants County Golf Club.
Among those expecting to challenge for the £35,000 event will be 2003 winner John Lower (Wollaton Park) but Farthingstone's Mike Gallagher is hoping his insider knowledge will give him an extra edge at the 54-hole event which makes its debut at the Midlands course on May 2.
Gallagher is nursing a secret weapon - he once held the course record at Northants having spent the majority of his golf-playing life at the course in Church Brampton and is quietly confident that he can improve on last year's joint-fifth finish.
"No one knows the course better than I do, I used to caddy there as a young kid and I also held the course record about 15 years ago," he said.
"If I have to play a matchplay and we have a neutral course I will always try to take them there.
"I would expect to have a good chance of winning because of my experience of the course - I've probably played more golf there then anybody in the field - but I don't want to be seen to be too loud and end up shooting myself in the foot.
"People have got to know how to get round it. It's an old-fashioned golf course and you've got to know how to play it. The greens are not easy to read, but you've got to know them - my experience on the course has got to help me."
The course at Northants has gone under some changes in the last year and Gallagher and his fellow veterans can expect a tough time as they navigate their way round.
Northants County club professional Tim Rouse explained: "We've had some new tees and new bunkers added over the winter and they will come into play for the first time in the Championship.
"They have added a new dimension to the course and will certainly give the players something extra to think about.
"We're honoured to be staging the tournament. We've had some big competitions here before with the Open Championship regional qualifier, but this is one of the biggest."
Another of Gallagher's rivals in the championship which carries a first prize of £4,750 will be Chesterton Valley professional Phil Hinton, who will be keen to improve on last year's seventh place.
Other incentives include all of the top 20 qualifying for the PGA Seniors Championship at Stoke by Nayland with the winner exempt for the Scottish Seniors Open at Dalmahoy.
