Ashbourne pro John Dwyer believes the "feel-good factor" within the Great Britain & Ireland camp can inspire them to become the first team to win the prestigious PGA Cup on American soil.
The tournament, which follows exactly the same format as the Ryder Cup, tees off on Friday at the Oconee Course in Greensboro, Georgia and Dwyer admits the stunning setting has contributed to the team's buoyant mood.
He said: "This is a fantastic place, the facilities are great, the course is very, very good and the condition of it is perfect.
"The whole complex is great and there's a serious feel-good factor about being at a place like this and it will bring out the best in everyone."
Dwyer forms part of a 10-man team who have been tasked with retaining the Llandudno Trophy they won at The K Club in Ireland two years ago, and the 33-year-old thinks the eclectic mix of characters within the team could prove crucial over the three-day event.
"It's a real good bunch of lads and everyone seems to be gelling well," he added. "There's a real mix of personalities, which is very important. We've got a couple of outspoken guys, which you need, and we've got a couple of quiet and reserved personalities which gives us a nice balance."
Along with seasoned campaigner Paul Wesselingh, Dwyer is the only other member of the team to have competed in the PGA Cup before and he says this year's set-up at The Reynolds Plantation is vastly superior to that found at Port St. Lucie in Florida four years ago.
"The last time it was played in America it was a really bad time of year. We played in January and the team were not sharp at all, we'd all had our feet up over the winter.
"We actually played okay in practice but when it came down to competitive play we were not at the races and I think everyone on the team would admit that.
"So it's a lot different being at this time of year for us, we've all had a good season and we're all match sharp because it's nearing the end of the season.
"It's a different golf course but it's very similar in the degree of difficulty to last time. The greens could be a little bit easier than last time so we'll all feel comfortable on those greens, they are not running too fast so I think we'll all be able to cope with that."
