Greig Hutcheon became only the third man in the last 23 years to win consecutive Scottish Order of Merit titles last month, but he hopes to eclipse that feat with victory at next week's PGA Play-Offs.
Hutcheon clinched seven wins this season, but finished a disappointing 58th in the final counting event, the Callaway Challenge at Lanark.
The 34-year-old believes a rich vein of form throughout August was the deciding factor in the title race, which saw him achieve back-to-back wins at the Volvo Masters and the West Kilbride Pro-Am, and then the runner-up spot at the Williamwood Pro-Am.
"It was a really good year," said Hutcheon, who plays at Peterculter Golf Club. "I was very proud to win it two years running, it means a lot to me.
"Really the key to my year was a good run in August. I won two events in a row, both on sudden-death play-offs, and then finished second so that really kick-started my season.
"Up until then I had been a little bit quiet so that was the turning point of my season.
"I'm looking forward to the play-offs next week. I'm obviously quite hopeful I can win but there'll be some very good players there all thinking the same.
"My form has not been too bad lately. I put in a lot of practice last week to build up to the competition. "It's the last competition of the season so it will be good to finish on a high."
Hutcheon's success over the past two seasons could be attributed to the fact he has spent the winters practising in Portugal.
This year, however, he plans to stay in Aberdeen. "I got engaged earlier in the year so I can't really sneak off to the Algarve this winter unfortunately," he said.
"But if the winter's particularly bad in Scotland I may go away for a couple of weeks.
"I'm going to be working maybe three days a week labouring for a friend who runs an oil company and that will allow me to put in a few practice rounds each week to keep my game ticking over.
"There's a chance next season could be a big one for me so I'll be making sure my preparation is good."
Former PGA Europro Tour number one Paul McKechnie will join Hutcheon at Notts Golf Club (Hollinwell) next week after finishing just behind him in the Order of Merit.
McKechnie led the Order of Merit and the Money List at the beginning of August after a strong start but fell back as the season progressed and last won a tournament in mid-June.
The 30-year-old Braid Hills professional was an early leader at the Scottish PGA Championship at Gleneagles in August after carding a three-under par opening round with birdies on the first three holes, but he then failed to match the form of Graeme McInnes, David Orr and eventual champion Mark Loftus.
McKechnie slipped back to finish 12th, but had four other wins on the circuit throughout the season.
Loftus is the third Scottish region player to be competing at the Play-Offs, after finishing third in the Order of Merit.
Loftus clung on to a one-shot overnight lead to claim the Scottish PGA Championship title, overcoming torrential rain and gale-force winds to card a two-over par final score.
It was the first time since 2001 that the Cowglen player, who is mentored by Paul Lawrie, won a 72-hole event, one of six wins during the season.
Loftus's last victory was the Tartan Tour's Kerr Investments Classic in early September where he birdied the last hole to force a three-way tie.
At stake next week is a £15,000 prize fund, but more importantly for the winner is entry to the BMW PGA Championship, Celtic Manor Wales Open, Smurfit Kappa European Open and Barclays Scottish Open on the European Tour and the FirstPlus Wales Challenge, Challenge of Ireland, Scottish Challenge and Oceanico Pro-Am Challenge on the Challenge Tour.
