Kenilworth's James Crompton made his mark in the opening event of the Midlands PGA season as he booked his place in July's Midland Masters.
Crompton's two-under par 70 at Derbyshire's Kedleston Park saw him share top spot with Craig Fletcher (Swindon Ridge Driving Range) and Michael Welch (Hawkstone Park) as only seven players broke par.
The Kenilworth man got off to an inauspicious start with two bogeys in his opening four holes but back-to-back birdies at the fifth and sixth repaired the damage.
A spotless back nine, which included birdies at 11 and 17 saw him comfortably book a return to Kedleston Park on July 10.
Willenhall-based Fletcher had an eventful round chalking up six birdies and four bogeys on his way to a share of top spot, while former Open qualifier and European Tour player Welch eased his way with three birdies and lone bogey.
Thirty-four players on five over par or better qualified for the Midlands Masters, one of six Order of Merit events in the race for the Srixon PGA Play-Offs, which is being held at Royal Liverpool in October. Full results here.
