End-of-season festival golf will be held in West Wales for the first time this year as the Wales and West Region of the PGA acknowledges the growing popularity of golf in the Principality.
The West Wales Links Golf Festival is being staged in September at Ashburnham, Pennard and Machynys Peninsular and is expected to be a sell-out with a maximum of 40 teams.
Ray Ellis, who completed negotiations days before stepping down as regional secretary, said: "I have been asked many times if we could stage a links festival to conclude the season in Wales, just as we start the season with one in Cornwall.
"The Welsh professionals were keen for us to visit and the three clubs involved could not have been more supportive or welcoming. We are sure it will be a huge success."
The 40 professionals and their three amateur partners are expected to come from all around Britain although many will be from the West and Wales. They will be based in Swansea and Llanelli.
The 54-hole event starts at Ashburnham on Tuesday September 23, continues at Pennard the following day and concludes at the spectacular new Machynys links on September 25.
The presentations will be made at Machynys, the Nicklaus-designed course that hosts to the S4C Wales Ladies Championship of Europe for the third time in August.
The region's traditional end-of-season festival had been held at Bournemouth for 20 years but was discontinued last year.
