Kevin Evans, the 33-year-old senior PGA professional at Malton Golf Club in Hertfordshire, won the pre-qualifier for the Oak Room Charity Classic with a one over par round of 73 at Lamerwood Golf Club.
Evans will now be in the field for the main event at Stock Brook Golf and Country Club on August 13th and 14th, one of six East Region Order of Merit events in the race for the end-of-season Srixon PGA Play-Offs at Royal Liverpool.
This was the third pre-qualifier of the month for Evans, who has won through every time.
Evans said: "I hit the ball well and would have been level par had I not found trees with my drive at the par five 18th. The course was playing quite long and there was a strong breeze at times.
"The 191 yard par three 13th was playing 210 yards. I hit a very good two-iron onto the green, but then three-putted." There were no birdies at the 13th , only 27 pars and 44 bogeys or worse.
Three joint runners-up at two over par at Lamerwood were Glyn Krause of Elton Furze, Joe James of Trent Park and Donal Brennan of Muswell Hill. A total of 31 players qualified with six over par and better making the cut.
