Michael Watson has been playing fourball competitions with Martyn Thompson for 23 years but the Wessex Golf Centre professional believes their partnership is as good as ever.
The 38-year-old is confident they can qualify for the SkyCaddie PGA Fourball Championship, supported by Sunderland at Fulford in October, where they have enjoyed great success in the past, when they play at North Wilts on August 7.
"We played together as juniors and came through the county ranks together and here we are now as pros," said Watson.
"We've played since we were 15 and know each other's games inside out and just really enjoy playing together.
"The PGA Fourball is a tournament we love. We've come first, fourth and third in the last three years and it's something we're very good at.
"We both playing fairly well and I've won a few pro-ams recently, although we were beaten in the west region better ball championships - we lost by one shot to a couple of youngsters which we didn't enjoy," he joked.
Watson believes the secret to their success is never getting annoyed with each other and having faith in one another's games.
"If one guy isn't in the zone the other one always tries to pick him up and compensate," he added.
"We learnt very early on that you don't ever make mistakes on purpose in this game. We just keep plugging along and we have huge confidence in each other."
Exeter's Chris Gill believes finding happiness in other areas of his life has done wonders for his golf.
Despite being preoccupied with organising his impending wedding, Gill has been in fine form on the course and is upbeat about his qualification chances.
"I'm really confident because I'm playing really nicely at the moment. I'm winning a few pro-ams and I'm leading the west region money list," he said.
"I finished third in the PGA Assistants' Championship qualifier after losing in a play-off which was disappointing but other than that I've won three pro-ams in the last couple of weeks and I'm feeling really good.
"I'm nice and relaxed and everything off course in good shape which often contributes to you playing well. I'm getting married in September and if everything else in your life is good then playing golf just seems like a breeze."
