Ginn Tonic At Seniors

Published in:

An early Aussie assault at Slaley Hall suggests scoring could be low in the final round of the De Vere Collection PGA Seniors Championship.

Stewart Ginn, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Hollywood superstar director Steven Spielberg, called all the right shots with a two under par 70 including four birdies.

Fellow Aussie David Merriman was in even hotter form, reeling off four birdies in a row during an amazing run of scoring from the fourth to seventh holes. He eventually signed for a three under par 69 as did another compatriot Graham Banister.

Scotland's Sam Torrance, who is celebrating his 55th birthday today, was level par after five holes while South Region club pro Phil Harrison from Wildwood, will be watched by large galleries after being paired with former world number one Ian Woosnam.

Leader Gordon J Brand tees off at 14:50 two shots clear of Domingo Hospital with Andrew Murray, Ross Drummond and Juan Quiros all a stroke further back.
