Two-time champion Sion Bebb will bid to complete a hat-trick of titles after securing a late entry into the re-scheduled Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Welsh National PGA Championship at Cardiff.
The European Tour regular, who was in action at The Belfry this week, has taken full advantage of the event's new date - it tees off on Tuesday, September 30 - after it was washed out last month due to record rainfall in south Wales.
Bebb, who won the 54 hole title at Southerndown in 2005 and Tenby the following year, will be aiming to stop fellow European Tour colleague Stephen Dodd from retaining the trophy following his eight-shot victory in the capital last year.
The event, which has a £42,500 prize fund, has retained a competitive field with last year's runner up Peter Evans (Royal Porthcawl), in-form Andrew Barnett (North Wales Golf Range) and home favourite Adam Constable among the 100-strong field.
An added incentive for the leading finishers in the tournament is qualification via the Welsh Order of Merit for the three-man PGAs of Europe International Team Championship in Roda, Spain, in November.
In addition the leading non exempt player will also earn a place alongside Europe's elite at next year's Wales Open at Celtic Manor Resort and entry into the Firstplus Wales Challenge.
Rob Holt, Chief Executive of Ryder Cup Wales 2010, said: "We are delighted to be title sponsors of this historic event which dates back to 1904 and boasts an illustrious list of winners including former Ryder Cup captains Ian Woosnam and Brian Huggett.
"It is great to be back at Cyncoed (Cardiff) Golf Club for a second year, which will again provide a great test of golf for all the players including defending Champion, Stephen Dodd. This is the final event in the 2008 Summer of Golf programme and crowns another great year of Welsh golf."
The tournament was first competed for in 1904 and has had some notable winners including Ian Woosnam, Brian Huggett and Sid Mouland.
