Kent's Matthew Ford won the CK Group PGA Southern Professional Championship at Dale Hill by a stroke from South Winchester's Andrew Cloke but the man celebrating was Hampshire's James Ablett after he claimed the Order of Merit title.
On the second and final day Ford (Marriott Tudor Park) carded rounds of 66 - which had given him a share of the lead - and 68 to add to his opening 69 for a seven-under-par total of 203.
Cloke, who had posted a second-round 67, fell just short after matching Ford's 68.
Last year's Order of Merit winner Ant Tarchetti (Littlestone) was third on five under after round of 69, 69 and 68.
Ablett, who came close to being crowned South Region number one last year, claimed the MPI Financial Services Order of Merit despite not being at his best in the final event.
Rounds of 71, 70 and 74 left him in a share of 16th place on five over but it was just enough to give him the overall title by just 23.5 points from Farnham Golf Club's Steven Cowle, who had finished three over and 13th in the tournament.
Limpsfield Chart's Michael McLean, despite finishing in 31st on 14 over, claimed the vital third place in the Order of Merit.
The top three now all go forward to the Srixon PGA Play-offs at Royal Liverpool on October 21 when the top golfers from the PGA's seven regions will battle it out over two rounds for a number of European Tour and Challenge Tour starts.
