A sharp and unpleasant contrast in the weather greeted the early starters this morning at a rainy and windswept Dundonald Links, near Irvine.
As the second round of the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship lurched into life at 6.45 this morning, the overnight leader, James Whatley, who teed off at 7.25, was soon in trouble. He dropped three shots in four holes, and is now one under for the championship.
But there were some players actually challenging the conditions - Will Barnes and 2005 PGA Cup player Richard Dinsdale from Newport, South Wales, are both one under for today's round after three holes.
