As the overnight leader, Jeremy Robinson, encountered early trouble at Dundonald Links, it was Welshman James Lee who took over the leadership of round three of the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship.
Playing the long fifth in 25mph winds, former Walker Cup man Robinson lost a ball with his second shot, and was still in a swale just off the green in five. And by the time he retrieved the ball from the hole, an eight was being marked down.
A bogey at the next heightened his gloom, whereas Lee after six holes was one under for the day, four for the championship. Breathing down his neck is 2006 champion, Paul Wesselingh, who started formidably with five pars and a birdie, matching Lee's first six.
