A taxi driver from Northumberland will attempt to leave a roofer, retired plasterer and joiner in the slow lane in his bid to book his place in the final of Europe's biggest pro-am.
In addition, Guy Hunter, a member of Matfen Hall Golf Club, will be flying the flag for England when he teams up with head professional John Harrison for the regional final of the Virgin Atlantic PGA National Pro-Am Championship at Lanark, near Glasgow, on July 2.
Up for grabs is a place in the 36-hole grand final on the PGA Sultan Course at Turkey's Antalya Golf Club in December where the winning pair will also enjoy an all expenses paid stay at the five star Sirene Beach and Hotel Resort on the Mediterranean.
First, though, the Matfen Hall pair will have to overcome 28 other duos - all from Scottish clubs.
Harrison, who has been at Matfen Hall for the past 15 years, explained: "We should have played in the regional final at Fulford but the date clashes with a big pro-am at our club.
"It's an annual event for charity run by Northumberland Police that raises £30,000 every year, so I couldn't miss that."
Instead, the 49-year-old Harrison and his 11-handicap partner, who is five years his senior, will make the 120-mile trip to Lanark. But not by taxi with Hunter at the wheel!
"He'll be having a day off," added Harrison. "I want to ensure he's fully rested so that we have as good a chance as possible of making the final."
Having played in two previous finals - at Vale de Lobo and San Lorenzo - Harrison knows it's an event worth qualifying for.
And should the pair prevail in Scotland, Harrison will enjoy what is tantamount to home advantage in Turkey.
"I've played the Sultan Course quite a few times," he said. "I've taken quite a few groups there and it's a superb course and venue."
Other clubs taking part at Lanark include: North Berwick, Dunblane, Turriff, Cawder, Wishaw and Brunston Castle.
