Pyle & Kenfig pro Robert Evans not only had to battle strong winds at Ashburnham but a cheeky terrier dog who swiped his ball during the second round of the Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Welsh National PGA Championship.

The mutt, out for his afternoon walk, grabbed the ball from near the 16th green and ran off with it, only dropping it after PGA referee Nick Gilks collared the dog's owner who was blissfully unaware of Evan's plight.

"The dog was just passing, saw the ball lying there and decided he liked the look of it, picked it up and trotted off," said Gilks who was standing nearby.

"We shouted at the owner who managed to get the ball off the dog and throw it back to us."

The story had a happy ending for Evans who was able to replace the ball without penalty - and he parred the hole.
