Alliss heads for pastures new

Two-time PGA Cup captain Gary Alliss is returning to his roots with a club professional role at Ladbrook Park Golf Club at Tanworth-in-Arden, near Solihull.

It means a move from the Belfry golf resort where he has been head PGA pro for the past four years.

The Harry S Colt designed Ladbrook Park celebrated its centenary last year and Alliss admits it's a perfect move.

"I'm pleased to be able to go back to what is my first love, being a PGA club professional," said Alliss.

"I will be doing what a club pro does, teaching, playing, custom fitting and retailing. My assistant will be Ryan Burton from The Belfry and my wife Karen, who did so much when we were at Trevose, will be assisting in the shop."

A club spokesman said: "We are sure that the professional services provided by Gary and his team will enhance Ladbrook Park Golf Club's continued evolvement and complement our shared goal of enhancing our standing as a prominent and well respected members' club."

Alliss, a PGA Master Professional, is national coach to Slovakia and will also continue his work as a PGA tutor and as a consultant with the PGAs of Europe and R&A Golf Development.
