Getting Started

The first port of call for any parent interested in getting their child into golf should be your local PGA pro.

You will find the majority of club pros will offer coaching, starter lessons, after school or weekend sessions or if not will be able to offer you the best advice on where to get started in your area.

The PGA and its members are also involved in a myriad of initiatives with bodies such as the England Golf Partnership, Golf Foundation, Young Masters Golf and a number of Home Union schemes.

Among the junior initiatives to look out is the nationwide Young Masters Golf which is run by PGA professionals and provides a great grounding and start in golf.

The Golf Foundation is also extremely active and has a vast range of schemes from Tri-Golf to Junior Starter Centres based at golf clubs and run by qualified PGA professionals.

An other useful link is the Grass Roots Golf Tour - a nationwide golf tour for kids of all ages and abilities
