About The Academy

PGA National Training Academy

Aspiring PGA professionals (registered assistants) are trained in a number of different golf disciplines at the PGA's National Training Academy at The Belfry. Assistants attend the academy for residential weeks while also undergoing on-site training under the supervision of their employing professional.

The academy boasts purpose built swing rooms, a golf science lab, cutting edge technology including launch monitors, GASP system, Quintec Ball Roll Technology, Sam Putt Lab and a state-of-the-art gym which all help to produce highly skilled and trained golf professionals, experts on the swing, equipment, sports science and the business of golf.

PGA National Training Academy

In addition, the academy has three classrooms including one which houses a purpose built proshop plus workshops for equipment technology and custom fitting. Assistants receive up-to-date expert tuition in many aspects of golf business including retail and selling, business finance and how to manage business affairs.

They also develop expertise in custom fitting, their understanding of latest developments in equipment technology and current workshop practices.

PGA National Training Academy

Training of assistants comes under the day to day control of the PGA academy, headed by the Director of Education and Career Development. The training team comprises a training manager, a team of full time training executives and a team of PGA tutors and external consultants.
