When and where will the Graduation take place?

The 2024 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Thursday 2nd May 2024. The ceremony takes place in the Great Hall at the University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 2TT, United Kingdom.

What is the dress code?

Graduands are asked to wear a white shirt/blouse with grey or navy trousers, skirt or dress. The PGA will provide you with a PGA Member’s tie/scarf that will be sent to you along with your tickets for the Graduation. This should be worn with your PGA Members’ Blazer, which will be available for collection on the day at the registration desk.

Will you cater for my dietary requirements?

If you or your guest have any specific dietary requirements or allergies, please ensure you details theses on your RSVP form or contact PGAGraduation@pga.org.uk or Colette Fulleylove on 01675 470 333.

Can I have a photograph on the day?

Your family and friends are welcome to take photographs during the day, but we ask you not to use flash photography or video recorders during the Ceremony. An official photographer will be present during the day and there will be an opportunity for you to have a formal photograph with family and friends prior to the Ceremony. Our photographer will also take photographs during the Ceremony and all photographs can then be viewed and purchased online at LINK REQUIRED. The QR code will be available on the day of the Graduation.

Where do I sit during the Graduation Ceremony?

All graduate and guest tickets are allocated numbers. When taking your seat for the Ceremony you must sit in the numbered seat allocated to you on your ticket to ensure a smooth procession of graduands onto the podium to collect their award. Your guests must also sit in their numbered seat allocated in the main body of the hall. The seating chart at the entrance of the Great Hall will show you where your seat is located, and PGA staff will be on hand to direct you.

Who can I talk to on the day if I have any questions?

All staff from the Academy will be at the University for the Ceremony and will be identifiable by their PGA name badges. PGA staff will also be at the registration desk in the Great Hall foyer.

Will you be able to cater to my accessibility requirements?

Both the Great Hall (R6) and Staff House (R24) have nearby disabled parking, as well as accessible toilets, lifts, and level access entry points. Blue badge holders can park in any marked bay on campus.

Will there be refreshments available on the day?

For those of you arriving early, refreshments are available from the following University Centre locations:

  • Avanti
  • Costa
  • Starbucks

Please refer to the campus map for a full list of food and drink outlets available on campus.
Cash points are also available on the University campus.

How do I find the University if I travel by car?

POST CODE FOR SAT NAV PURPOSES: B15 2SA

Approaching from the northwest or southeast along the M6:

  • Leave at Junction 6 (signposted Birmingham Central) to join the A38(M)
  • At the end of the motorway, keep to the right, go over a flyover, then through the underpasses to join the A38 Bristol Road
  • The University is on your right, 1½ miles from Birmingham City Centre

Approaching from M42 north:

  • Leave at Junction 8 to join the M6 northbound and follow the instructions above

Approaching from the southwest:

  • Leave the M5 at Junction 4 signposted Birmingham SW to join the A38
  • The University is approximately 8 miles from the motorway

Approaching from the M40:

  • It is easier to turn south on the M42 and leave at Junction1, heading north on the A38 Bristol Road
  • The University is approximately eight miles from the motorway
Where can I park?

You are asked to use the Northeast Car Park Multi Storey, Pritchatts Road (indicated on the map B15 2SA). This car park is a pay and display car park. Please follow the signs from the car park to the main campus.

You may also reach the University of train as an alternative, the centre of the main campus is just a five-minute walk from University Station with trains running frequently from New Street Station in Birmingham City Centre and is only a ten minute journey. Selly Oak Train Station is also nearby and has parking spaces for 300 cars.

Am I eligible to attend/why haven’t I received my invitation?

To be eligible to attend The PGA Graduation trainees must have completed all membership criteria and be eligible for election to PGA Membership.

Formal invites are sent directly to those that are eligible to attend and those that go on to complete the following elements of PGA membership criteria by 29th February 2024.

  • Hold a valid First Aid Certificate
  • Hold a valid Safeguarding & Protecting Children Certificate
  • Hold a valid PVG/DBS/Garda Vetting/Access NI
  • Teaching Practical Exam
  • Twenty-one playing rounds
  • Have no unpaid or outstanding fines
  • Level 1 & Level 2 Coaching Qualifications
