Galvin Green managing director Greg Pearse has acknowledged the key part PGA Professionals play in the success of the brand’s market-leading high-performance golf wear.

Pearse, who was speaking following the conclusion of the Galvin Green-sponsored PGA Assistants’ Championship at Coxmoor Golf Club, Nottinghamshire, said: “Our relationship with the PGA is incredibly important to us.

“For us, the PGA pro is basically the heartbeat of our brand and the game. Our brand is not based on a face or a name or a player. Everything we do is about products.

“The brand has grown because of the strength of its products. The PGA pro wears the product, likes it and the club members, who obviously take inspiration from and trust what the pro is wearing, then buy the product as well.”

The tournament at Coxmoor was the third the market-leading Swedish company has sponsored and Pearse added: “The last three years for us have been phenomenal.

“The PGA Assistant for us is crucial – we want those guys to understand who we are and hopefully wear our products. And talk about them. To be associated with this event which has such a rich history is a real privilege.

“The three years have been phenomenal and the last three days just fantastic. It’s been great from our point of view to have such a mix of weather.

“As for this year’s winner, we’re looking forward to working with Matthew (Fieldsend) over the next 12 months in his role as an official Galvin Green ambassador.”

Pearse also praised the PGA for the way it trains Assistants and the opportunities open to them when they qualify.

In doing so, he highlighted the career of Peter Finch who attended the final day of the tournament and videoed parts of it to be shown on his YouTube channel.

“Going through that PGA training is a hugely talented group of individuals who go out and find their careers in the game of golf,” he said.

“We’re here today with Peter Finch. He’s a PGA pro who has a YouTube channel and various forms of social media he uses to project his view on the game of golf.

“He has more than 100,000 subscribers on YouTube and gets more than a million views per month. Peter has taken that PGA platform and created a very successful career for himself.

“I think it will be fascinating to see the guys who have played so well over the past three days just where their careers take them because the PGA gives them such a fantastic platform to build on.”
