Andy’s successful defence

Andrew Pestell (Chelmsford) continued his fine season with a successful defence of the Haverhill Pro-Am.

Pestell shot five-under-par to win, alongside Sam Teer (Clacton), as the pair finished two clear of third-placed James Scade (Little Channels Golf Centre).

Pestell made a topsy-turvy start to his round with three bogies and two birdies in his opening six holes.

But he turned on the style from the eighth onwards with an eagle and four more birdies.

The last shot he picked up came at the 18th and what an important one it turned out to be. His three at the closing par-4 was enough to secure him a share of the spoils.

Joint-winner Teer played a fine bogey-free round. His 67 saw three birdies on the outward nine and a further two coming home.

Pestell’s quartet were convincing winners of the team event on a total of 117 – six clear.
