It proved to be a resounding victory for Robert Arnott at Haggs Castle Golf Club after he won the Grant's Foods Scottish PGA Senior Championship by no fewer than nine strokes.

The Bishopbriggs Golf Range player was miles ahead of the field in Glasgow to take home the top prize of £750.

An opening score of 65 gave Arnott a four-stroke overnight lead from Peter Kerr and he more than doubled that despite very windy conditions for the second round on Thursday.

Arnott was able to match the par of 72 with birdies at the first, sixth, 13th and 18th, nullified by four bogeys, in halves of 36 for an excellent final total of seven-under-par 137.

Kerr was one of many competitors blown off course on the second day. He slumped to an 80 for 149 and a share of fourth place.

Stephen McAllister (S McAllister Golf) (72-74) and Fraser Mann (Carnoustie Golf Links) (70-76), both of whom had double bogey 6s on their cards,  shared second place on 146, each earning £517.
