ROBERT Booth followed up his victory in the Yorkshire Open at Howley Hall when he crossed over the border into Lancashire the next day to win the Werneth Pro-am.

The Crosland Heath-attached professional racked up an eagle two at the fourth and registered eight birdies in a seven-under 61.

His card also revealed six pars and three bogeys as he prevailed by a shot from Ellesmere’s John Brown.

Oliver Pantoja clicked with a six-under 66 to top the leaderboard in the £4,000-plus Workington Pro-am, denying Mossock Hall’s David Shacklady by two shots.

Meanwhile, in a packed pro-am, Jonathan Cheetham rolled back the years when he won the long-running Brough Classic at the East Riding club last month.

The 2003 Leeds Cup winner posted a second round four-under 64, featuring four birdies in the first six holes on the home stretch, which he tagged to his opening 69.

Rochdale-based Cheetham’s only blemish on the final day was a bogey on the penultimate hole as he prevailed by a shot from serial winner and GB&I PGA Cup pick Phil Archer.

Cheetham banked £1,500 from the £9,500 prize-fund for his performance in one of the longest running pro-ams on the PGA North schedule.

It followed the £10,000 School Bus Foundation pro-am at Disley last month as well as the Carus Green Pro-am with a total prize fund of more than £8,000 with a £2,000 winner’s cheque.

Next up is the 36-hole Renewable Energy Pro-am at Hull Golf Club on July-14-15 which has an impressive £20,000 at stake.

Regional secretary Jonathan Paine said: “It’s fantastic to have such high profile events on the calendar.  The enduring Brough Classic, along with our newer events, provided excellent days for our members to play in as well as amateurs who support them.

“Credit must also go to all the organisers of our pro-ams throughout the year who really put a lot of time and effort in to make the days special.”
