All throughout PGA Cup week, Captain Cameron Clark will be providing a daily update from inside the Great Britain & Ireland camp ahead of the 29th PGA Cup matches at Barton Creek Resort in Austin Texas.

It’s been very hot again here at Barton Creek, close to 100 degrees again today. We played fourball on the front nine so we tried to make it as competitive as possible for the team. The guys have really enjoyed it. We had a three-way play-off at the end which was great fun so it’s been all good so far.

The guys are really enjoying the experience here in Texas. Everyone is delighted that all ten players are here now which makes a difference. That adds to the team spirit as well, it’s nice to get all the guys that arrived on Monday night in the mix a little bit.

We spoke to the four who arrived on Monday (Robert Coles, Matthew Cort, David Dixon and Paul O'Hara) and asked if they wanted to play just nine holes on Tuesday. They need to get climatised as quickly as they can so they were happy to play all 18 holes.

We played foursomes on the back nine to make it a bit easier, but we also want to make it competitive, as much a competition as we can. They’re playing for their places for Friday and it’s the only day we’re going to see them over 18 holes. We’ll speak to the team and see where they’re at in terms of energy levels because that’s very important. It’s going to be this temperature all week so we need to bear that in mind.

We didn’t use the buggies on Tuesday for our second practice round. They can’t use buggies during the event itself so the quicker we can get them walking the better they can get a feel for the golf course.

We’ve got a lot of formal functions this week. I’ve been put in this position to do it so I’m more than happy to attend these kind of things. I’m in a privileged position to be captain this year and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it. These sort of things do not faze me.

I think whenever you represent your country it’s a very, very special moment, to captain your country especially. This is the pinnacle for any PGA Professional, to captain the PGA Cup team, so I’m going to make sure I enjoy it but most importantly the team enjoy it.
