Chris Currie, a member of last year's PGA Cup-winning side at Foxhills, stormed to a six-shot success in the first 36-Hole Order of Merit Challenge of the season at Deer Park.

Now attached to Erskine, Currie shared the lead with Duddingston's Ross Munro after opening with a 67 at the Livingston venue but surged clear of the field in the second round.

He birdied the second, eighth, 12th, 14th, 15th and 18th in carding a 68 for a nine-under-par 135 total to comfortably secure an £800 top prize.

"Deer Park was in fantastic shape and conditions were very difficult with testing, swirling winds and an extremely firm, bouncy golf course," said Currie.

"A massive thanks goes to all at Deer Park as they’re a huge supporter of the PGA in Scotland and give us a great platform to play championship tournament golf."

Ross Cameron, who is competing mainly on the Pro Golf Tour this season, carded a best-of-the-day 66 in the second round to finish in a five-way tie for second spot.

He eagled the second before adding birdies at the third, fourth, fifth, eighth and ninth to be out in 29 then, after taking a 7 at the 12th, got one of those dropped shots back at the 14th.

Munro also finished on three-under, as did the host club's Jamie McLeary, Ross Leeds of Archerfield Links and Thomas Higson (Gleneagles Hotel).

Leeds started his second round with an eagle-2, Higson also had an eagle on his card at the 14th while McLeary was three-under for the day before finishing bogey-bogey-bogey.

The next Tartan Tour Order of Merit event is the Northern Open at Nairn Dunbar on June 5-7.
