Coles bags Bishop’s Stortford Pro-Am

Rob Coles (Maylands Golf & Country Club) followed up his Order of Merit win at Bishop’s Stortford with victory in the same club’s pro-am.

Coles, who triumphed in the East Region Championship, secured a one-stroke success 24 hours later.

The former European Tour ace signed for a five-under 66 to pip a quartet of players.

Coles, 45, was the last man out on the course as darkness closed in. But he coolly made par on the last two holes to defy Ian Campbell (Cheshunt Park), Mark Baker (Colchester), James Scade (Little Channels Golf Centre) and David Salisbury (Three Rivers Golf and Country Club).

Much of the groundwork for his score was done on the front nine where he made four straight birdies from the third. Coles also made three birdies on the trot from the 12th

The team event was won by the quartet led by Steve Cipa (South Essex Golf Centre). They posted a 17-under tally, one better than Coles’ team.
