Jack Davidson carded a final round of 67, which included a stunning ace on the 13th hole, to win by four shots in the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour Qualifying School Final Stage.

The Llanwern Golf Club man lead after a bogey-free second round of 65 – the lowest of the tournament – and held his composure to seal the victory with rounds of 71, 65 and 67.

The 21-year old finished four shots of his nearest rival Oliver Clarke (White Rose Sport Management) who carded excellent rounds of 69, 70, and 68. However, it wasn’t enough to snatch the top spot from the young Welshman.

“We all came here for the same reason, to get that tour card, but to walk away with the win is even better.”: said Davidson.

On his stunning hole in one, he said: “It was my first ever hole in one, the people behind the hole were celebrating before I realized it had gone in. It was a bit surreal but a very special moment for me.”

It is a great start to life as a professional, one that is looking positive after an impressive amateur career. He said: “You have to manage your expectations really well as a pro, I’d been playing strongly at home and had intentions to do what I’ve done, so to come away with the trophy is a great feeling.”

Golfers have been competing to earn the highest possible category on the 2018 HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour. All those who had progressed to Final Stage earned at least a category 14, with golfers making the Final Stage cut earning a minimum category 10 and the top 30 earning category 3.
