Greg Davies will be aiming to reach his second PGA national final in a week as he aims to become more than a one-day specialist.

Davies, of Cirencester’s South Cerney Golf Course, will tee off at the Titleist & FootJoy PGA Professional Championship qualifier at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club in Somerset on May 11.

He will be aiming to secure a spot in the £78,000 final which will be staged at Little Aston Golf Club in Sutton Coldfield between July 24-27.

But Davies has already made it to the English PGA Championship Final after finishing joint top of the leaderboard at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club last week.

And the 24-year-old is keen to get as much tournament golf under his belt as possible.

“I want to play on bigger stages but I’ve struggled with two day events,” said recently-qualified PGA professional Davies who has gained backing so that he get more playing experience this year.

“In two day Pro-Am events, I’ve been having one good day and one bad.

“Slowly, I’m just starting to learn how to make a score on the first day and then push that into the second day.

“So getting to a final of a competition like this is what I want.

“I think it’s the mental side more than the physical. I get myself so hyped up for it and then I over-focus and it goes a little bit wrong. But I’ve come to terms with that now.

“It’s all about getting more experience of playing tournament golf.”

Davies says he will be on familiar territory at Burnham & Berrow.

“It’s one of my favourite courses,” he admitted.

“Last year I came fifth there in the West Order of Merit final. I’ve also shot three under par there in a Pro-Am event. But it is a tough course. I expect the grass to be quite thick. And if it’s windy then it’s never fun, but I hope I can do well there again in this event.”
