Dillon and Moriarty lead field at Palmerstown Pro-Am

Joe Dillon (Headfort GC) and Colm Moriarty (Glasson Hotel & GC) topped the leaderboard at the Palmerstown House Estate Charity Pro Am.

The duo carded rounds of four under par 68 to finish one shot ahead of David Higgins (Waterville Links) and Damian Mooney (Damian Mooney Golf).

This was a welcome result for Dillon who has recorded a number of second places finishes this season. The Headfort golfer fired three birdies in his opening nine holes to reach the turn in three under par 33. He added three more birdies on his back nine but also threw in bogeys at the 13^th and 15^th.

In comparison, Moriarty was birdie free on the front nine and a dropped shot at the ninth saw him turn on one over 37. However, the 39-year-old, who already has a couple of wins to his name this year, clicked into gear on the back nine and reeled off five birdies, including a finishing burst of three in a row from the 16^th to come home in 31.

Neil O'Briain (Old Conna GC) and amateur partners John McGarr, Shane Hegarty and Andrew K Carroll won the team prize with 87 pts
