Newport’s Richard Dinsdale continued his great success this summer with a flawless five-under par return of 65 to win the Minchinhampton Pro-Am.

It was the Asbri Golf representative’s fourth win in just 14 pro-am starts this summer anda sixth top ten finish.

The former PGA Cup player, who has limited his appearances again this season, made birdies at the seventh, 11th and 17th plus an eagle three at the eighth to achieve a two-shot winning margin over a trio of pursuers and win £800.

This follows his triumph at Bowood two weeks earlier and shared first places at Taunton and Pickeridge and in the Gwalia Housing pro-am at Langland Bay.

Dubliner Nick Brennan, the former Bowood pro now at Tony Valentine Golf Centre in Corsham, has returned this season with some success. He led for a while on three-under 67 after a lightning four-under front nine of 31 on a day of early heavy showers followed by sunny spells.

He was joined by PGA Cup-winning captain Jon Bevan (Sherborne), who was four-under after 12, and Toby Hunt (St Mellons) who landed eagles at the eighth and 18th.

The consistent pair Matt Dearden (Vale Resort) and Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) shared fifth on 68 as left-hander Greg Davies (South Cerney), Anthony Buchanan (Tavistock) and Lee Thompson (Dudsbury) were the final players to finish under par on 69.

Bristol and Clifton assistant Nick Ramshaw won the team prize on 88 accompanied by Ian Roberts, Sam Hill and Steven Cocks. Chippenham’s Matt led the G K Joinery team of Tim Dipple, Roger Grant and Jon Golding into second on 87 with the Buchanan-led Metalwash trio of Andrew Young, Adrian Peckitt and Alan Rutherford a further shot back in third.
