Robert Dinwiddie

Challenge Tour invitee Robert Dinwiddie put on a masterclass at the Epsom Pro-Am, shooting a seven-under-par 63 to win by a five shot margin and collect the £800 winner’s cheque.

His spectacular round was the perfect way to help the club celebrate its 130th year. Five strokes behind the runners up were the foursome of Gary Gilligan (Lingfield Park), Ian Golding (Kingswood), Michael Bullen (Rustington) and Chris Rodgers (Richings Park).

Dinwiddie, who lives just round the corner from the Surrey track, used his local knowledge for a round that included an eagle and six birdies with just the one bogey, resulting in front and back nines of 31 and 32.

In the team event, American Golf’s Jamie Debrou led his amateur partners to the top team prize with a score of -20, edging the team led by Left Handed Golf at Silvermere’s Chris Gane into second spot by a single shot.

Epsom’s Director of Golf and PGA Professional, Stuart Walker, commented: “Once again, Epsom Golf Club and The PGA in England (South) laid on a terrific day’s golf for our Members, who love playing with the Pros. Robert’s score was a fantastic way to mark the Club’s 130th anniversary.”
