Dixon At The Double

Enmore Park’s David Dixon won his second successive Gloucester & Somerset PGA medal with the only sub-par round at Filton.

His one-under 69 took him two clear Bristol’s Martin Dewhurst, Dan Toogood (Weston-super-Mare) and Lee Corfield (Burnham and Berrow).

Heavy and persistent overnight rain left the Bristol venue saturated and heavy showers and a blustery wind made conditions difficult.

Dixon carded two birdies and two bogeys on his outward half. After another dropped shot on the 12th he finished with birdies at the 16th and 18th for his fourth win of the season.

Corfield matched Dixon’s back nine 34 after a slow start. Dewhurst also made four birdies and dropped his final stroke at the 17th as did Toogood who also made four birdies. Mark Plummer was fifth on 72.

His Cirencester colleague Ed Goodwin retained the lead in the Total Triumph Order of Merit despite suffering from a bad back. He carded 74 on the day but as his nearest challengers Giuseppe Licata (Filton) and George Ryall (Mendip Spring) only bettered that by a stroke he maintained a healthy advantage.
