Dundonald Links set for curtain-raiser as Arnold Clark Tartan Tour Order of Merit swings into action

07/04/2022

The Arnold Clark PGA in Scotland Tartan Tour swings into full blown action next week with the first Order of Merit event of the season at Dundonald Links.

Following a number of Winter Series contests which have helped sharpen the competitive instincts of the domestic circuit’s campaigners, the return to the fine links in Ayrshire for the 36-hole Challenge on Wednesday April 18 tees-off an impressive 2022 schedule.

An added incentive for the PGA in Scotland professionals this year is the Arnold Clark Tour Championship, an 18-hole shoot-out for the top-10 players on the final Order of Merit, which will be staged over the King’s Course at Gleneagles on Wednesday October 12.

In total there will be nine Order of Merit events throughout the season on a programme highlighted by the Loch Lomond Whiskies Scottish PGA Championship at West Kilbride (30 Aug – 02 Sep) and the Northern Open at Portlethen (31 May – 01 Jun).

Several 36-holers at Stirling, Balmore, Strathmore, Murrayshall, Deer Park Golf & Country Club and Dumfries & Galloway burnish the OOM roster.

“This year’s Arnold Clark PGA in Scotland Tartan Tour schedule promises to be our most comprehensive for a few years and we are delighted to be visiting some fantastic new venues as well as returning to some of our longstanding favourites,” said David Longmuir, the manager of The PGA in Scotland.

“The new Arnold Clark Tour Championship final is an excellent addition to the schedule, and we are hugely grateful to Arnold Clark for their continued support. The PGA team are ready to welcome all competitors to our first event at Dundonald Links next week and we wish everyone all the very best for the season ahead.”

Ahead of the curtain-raiser at Dundonald Links, host club head professional David-Ross Nicol rolled out the welcome mat to the Tartan Tour.

“We are delighted to have the PGA Scotland Order of Merit at Dundonald Links once again,” said Nicol, who has a busy summer to look forward to with the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open being staged at Dundonald Links. “We have recently opened the new clubhouse along with onsite lodges. We look forward to showcasing the new changes during the season ahead and hope the golf course will provide a great challenge for the players.”
