Paul Hendriksen has become the player of the month after a succession of wins and high finishes.

His success in the 125th anniversary pro-am at Taunton and Pickeridge was his fourth in his last six starts.

That included a shared first place with Billy Hemstock in a Cornwall PGA event at Trethorne.

Once again in Somerset he was obliged to share his victory on five-under-par 64. This time consistent Welshman Richard Dinsdale (Asbri Golf) joined him at the top – just as Harry Mayers did at St Mellion and Kevin Harper at Torquay.

“I never want this run to end,” said the Ivybridge manager-professional who also works at Plymouth Golf Centre near his home.

His immaculate iron play on a shortish course with six par threes proved valuable as he carded three successive birdies from the third and others on the eighth and 18th for a blemish-free round.

Dinsdale eagled the fifth, dropped his only shot on the 12th and added four birdies.

Another Plymouth resident Scott Drummond was two shots behind on 66 to share third with the improving Craig Melding (Neath) and veteran Lee Thompson (Dudsbury).

Richard O'Hanlon (St Kew), Ashley Mansell (Clevedon) and Mark Wiggett (Dudsbury) followed in sixth on 67.

The Pure Protection team of Marcus Sharif, Robin Dowling and Graham Ford, led by Wiggett, won on 16-under-par 122. Jim Mardell and his Tolchards team of Mike Angell and Kevin McCarty helped Drummond into second on 123.

The club's Champions team finished third in the team event alongside Weston-super-Mare pro Dan Toogood who was joined by county player Tom Sloman, off plus three, Tom Buckley, 6, and Fiona Lockyer, 3, who contributed four gross and three net birdies
