Burnham & Berrow's George Ryall was the only player to break 70 mark on a tough day for scoring at Chipping Sodbury in the latest Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal.

His three under par 69 brought a one stroke victory over Russ Berry on a breezy day in Gloucestershire. The Broadway man did however elevate himself to the head of the Total Triumph Order of Merit.

Ryall's round contained five birdies and four in five holes from the fifth which laid the foundation for his success. His second bogey came at the 11th but was immediately cancellied out by his final birdie.

He also topped up his winnings by securing both the birdie and Over 40's sweep.

Berry started with a birdie at the second  followed by the only eagle of the day at the third. Three dropped shots before the turn took him back to level par but a bogey free back nine including gains at the 12th and 16th helped him follow up his win at Brean.

Stinchcombe Hill  assistant Alex Higgs produced his best showing in a dual county event after some impressive performances in the Region this Summer. He was the early clubhouse leader and eventually finished third.

Ross Langdon (Brickhampton Court) and Ed Goodwin (Cirencester) matched par while Luke Collins (Tall Pines) was sixth on  73.
