Hay and McKechnie tie for victory

Gavin Hay (Grantown on Spey) and Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills Driving Range) earned £1,072 each today as joint winners of the Parkdean Resorts pro-am at Ayr Belleisle Golf Club.

They both shot four-under-par 67s in contrasting styles. Hay had bogey-free halves of 33 and 34, studded with birdies at the first, fifth, seventh and 10th.

McKechnie birdied the first, second, seventh, 10th and 15th but just when he looked set to win by one shot he ran up a bogey 6 at the par-5 18th in halves of 33-34.

They finished one stroke ahead of Sam Binning (Mearns Castle), Andy Fullen (Largs), Ross Cameron (Saltire Energy), Greig Hutcheon (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Inchmarlo) and Gareth Wright (West Linton). They each earned £469.

Derek Watters (Gourock) led the Lowmac Recycling team to victory by four shots with a net total of 20-under-par 122. The amateurs were: Kenny Smith (handicap 18), Andrew Smith (13),    John Trainor (13).

The first five pros in the pro-am event each earned £143. The others were: 126 A Forsyth. 127 S Binning, J McCreadie. 128 C Currie.
