Three players attached to the host club came up just short in the latest PGA Winter Fourball event at Nairn.

The top prize of £400 in an event involving 16 pairs went to Moray's Derek Ramsay and Rodger Clark of the Golf Dedication Centre in Lossiemouth with a six-under-par 65.

They finished a shot ahead of an all-Nairn pairing of Fraser Cromarty and Sean Burgess, as well as Murray Urquhart and his partner, Deer Park's general manager, Alan Tait.

On a day when local players fared well, Inverness duo Ross Black and David Grindell shared fourth spot with Ross McConnachie (Peterculter) and Ben Munro (Elgin) on 67.

The next event in the Winter Fourball Series is at Royal Troon on March 26 before concluding with two visits to Fife - Kingsbarns on April 2 then Aberdour on April 10.
