Jason's quick off the mark

Jason Shuttlebotham showed a clean pair of heels to the chasing pack as he posted a four-under par 68 at Vale of Llangollen to win the first of six Cheshire & North Wales Members Winter Tours by four shots.

The Denbigh-attached Professional rolled in four birdies on the outward half, erring on the second hole with a bogey, and picked up another shot on the inward stretch.

Lakeside's Grant Edwards claimed second place, one ahead of Hazel Grove's Benjamin Thompson and Royal St David's Lee Rooke.

The action moves to Ringway next Monday while the other events in the tour take place at Prestatyn (October 30), Vale Royal Abbey (November 6), Bramall Park (November 13) and Knutsford (November 20).
