Kennedy and Levermore lead the way

Lloyd Kennedy (Woolston Manor)and Jason Levemore (Little Channels Golf Centre) are out in front after firing four-under-par rounds of 67 on the first day of the East Region Championship at Bishop’s Stortford.

Kennedy was out in the morning, recording four birdies and an eagle – at the driveable par-4 14^th – to lead the way.

But Levermore, who was out in the last group, matched him with a classy afternoon’s work. The multiple Order of Merit champion may have begun with a bogey but hit back in typically determined fashion, notching up five birdies to join Kennedy at the top.

Will Farley (Rushmere), Brad Wilkins (Bramford Golf Centre) and Nathan Day (Millbrook) are all in hot pursuit after signing for respective rounds of 68.

There is a host of fine players at two-under, including the reigning Order of Merit ace Rob Coles (Maylands Golf and Country Club).
