Brickhampton Court Professional Ross Langdon recorded his second victory of the season after winning the Cotswold Hills Medal by two shots on Wednesday.

Langdon claimed top spot with a round of four-under par 68 to finish ahead of a trio of players consisting of Mark Plummer (Cirencester), Luke Derrick (Henbury) and Alex Munro (Bristol Golf Centre) who all finished on 70.

On a perfect day for golf in the Gloucestershire countryside, the 30-player field found the course to be in superb condition. With the course at full summer length, scoring was slightly higher than in previous seasons but the long-hitting Langdon didn’t experience too many problems.

He opened his round with a birdie and added another at the par 5 fifth hole. He dropped a shot at the next but then promptly made an eagle at the short par 5 seventh.

A third birdie came at the eighth and his topsy turvy nine holes concluded with a three-putt bogey at the ninth, leaving him three-under par at the turn. Langdon’s only variance on par figures on the back nine came at the 13th when he carded his final birdie of the round.

Plummer continued his trend of always contending when he appears this season with his round of 70 containing six birdies. He was joined on that figure by another 2017 returnee to the G&S Medals in the form of Derrick and also Munro, who continued his very impressive start to the Winter campaign.

Chipping Sodbury teaching Professional, Giuseppe Licata, claimed fifth spot with a 71 and this result enabled him to take advantage of Total Triumph Order of Merit leader Russ Berry’s absence at Cotswold Hills.

Licata closed the gap at the top of the points table to just 11 points with Munro moving up into third spot. Three players, Nick Ellis (Naunton Downs), Kevin Pitts (Allinone Golf) and Luke Gaskins (Brickhampton Court), all matched the par of 72 and shared the final prizemoney.

Next Wednesday it is the turn of Stinchcombe Hill to host the Gloucester and Somerset Pro’s for their weekly Medal.
