Jason Levermore ensured the new season for The PGA in Essex got off with a bang by scoring an incredible round of 11-under par 61 at Woolston Manor.

Playing in the PGA Championships Pro-Am, Levermore left the rest of the field in his wake with a superb round, which included four successive birdies at 11,12,13 and 14.

Robert Coles, fresh from his PGA Cup winning team performance in September, produced a very creditable 6-under par 66 but was left five shots behind the former PGA Cup player and Essex colleague Levermore.

The Woolston Manor course had undergone significant work during the summer but played exceptionally well as evidenced by the superb scoring. In joint third place were local Professional Lloyd Kennedy and Steve Cipa who both recorded four-under par 68.

The team event not surprisingly was won by Levermore as they were 11-under par without adding any of the team scores. Their final score of 21-under par was enough to win by one shot from the local team with home Pro Kennedy.
