Littlehampton’S Lewis Leads At Littlestone

Lewis Parker (Littlehampton) shot a superb six-under-par, 42 points at Littlestone to win the second Titleist & FootJoy PGA South 2018-2019 Winter Series event.

Parker picked up a handy cheque for £450, which should cover a few week’s nappies as he has just celebrated the recent arrival of a new baby and he reckoned this helped his golf, commenting: “Ever since our new baby arrived I’ve been playing much better! Maybe it’s the lack of sleep or having something else to focus on, but out on the course I’m now playing well within myself.”

He added: “It’s the first time I’ve played Littlestone, which was in terrific condition. Besides playing well I putted like a dream, thanks to brilliant caddying by a member, Paul Coskin, who told me the lines to drive and putt, and warned me the putts didn’t break as much as they appeared. I even holed three times from off the green!”

Parker’s performance edged out West Hove’s new Assistant Professional, Peter Tarver-Jones, who carded 40 points with a round of four-under-par, including two twos and an eagle on the homeward nine. Tarver-Jones performance earned him the Leading Trainee’s prize of a Titleist & FootJoy ball, glove and shoe contract.

That’s it now for 2018, and the next two events will shortly after the festive season at Prince’s at the end of January 2019 at Prince’s, followed by the usual ‘Ascot Swing’ at Swinley Forest (twice) and The Berkshire
