James Urquhart (Torquay) secured his first victory as a professional by recording a two under 69 to win the Devon PGA medal at blustery Yelverton by one shot.

He made four birdies, two on each nine, and an eagle on the fifth hole. His consistently straight ball flight allowed him to limit mistakes in the difficult conditions.

The Hendriksen brothers, Paul from Ivybridge, and Dan from Torquay shared second on 70. Both Dan, just like his assistant, and Paul landed four birdies.

Will Farley (Bovey Castle) followed a further shot behind to take fourth. He recorded the most birdies of the day with five but stumbled on a few occasions. He made a double bogey seven on the the par five eighth hole

After two events Urquhart currently holds a 13 point lead over Jessica Bradley (Saunton) in the Order of Merit.
