Max Brackley

Manston’s Max Brackley shot a four-under-par 68 (40 points) around The London Golf Club’s International course to win the eighth PGA South Winter Series event supported by Titleist & FootJoy.

Taking home the £500 winner’s cheque, Brackley pipped Wexham Park’s Craig Ainsley by one. The leading assistant’s prize for the ball, glove and shoe contract with Titleist & FootJoy went to Stoke Park’s Jon White who tied for third spot on two-under-par 38.

Brackley said: “We enjoyed decent weather and the International was in terrific condition, but my three dropped shots in five holes took the shine off things for a while!”

Starting at the 10th, Brackley opened with a birdie three and carried on in style, reaching five-under after nine. Three bogeys in his next five holes left him on two-under par with four to go, but Brackley made two more birdies to finish on 40 points.

One-under at the turn, Ainsley’s better back nine put him on three-under and 39 points for the runner’s up cheque of £400.

In the overall Winter Series, Royal Mid Surrey’s Oscar Granstrom Livesey leads but with one event left, the Titleist & FootJoy Assistants’ and Trainees Ball Pro-Am at Farnham, he can still be caught.
