McDermott secures Athy Pro-Am success

Michael McDermott grabbed victory at the Conor O'Dwyer Charity Pro-Am at Athy Golf Club.
The Grange professional carded a four under par round of 68 to beat Tara Delaney (The Eddie Doyle Golf Academy) by a shot.
Starting his round at the 10th, Michael went to the turn in one under par 34 with a bogey at the par three 11th, cancelled out by birdies at the 12th and 15th.
He added further birdies at the fourth and sixth dropped a shot at the par four seventh but bounced back immediately with an eagle at the par five eighth to come home in three under 34.
Mark Staunton (Delgany GC) and his team of Leslie Grey, Steven Moore and Pat Fleming won the team event with 91 pts on a better back nine.
