Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills Golf Range), one of the most consistent competitors on the Tartan Tour, scored his third pro-am win of the season and achieved his 10th top-10 finish in today's £7,470 Bothwell Castle Golf Club pro-am, Glasgow.

McKechnie shot a blemish-free, six-under par 64 with birdies at the first, third, seventh, 10th, 12th and 13th in halves of 33 (three under par) and 31 (three under par).

He won the top prize of £1,383 by three shots from a group of four players on 67 - Jonathan Lomas (Caprington) 35-32, Craig Matheson (Falkirk Tryst) 34-33, Paul O'Hara (North Lanarkshire Leisure) 34-33 and Gareth Wright (West Linton) 32-35.

If Wright had parred the 12th and the 18th he would have won the tournament! Instead the Welshman had a double bogey 6 at the 12th and a triple bogey 8 at the closing hole.  He had been six under par standing on the 12th tee.

Matheson led the Robertson Car Sales trio of Billy Robertson (handicap 12), Chris Harvey (10) and Gary Crossan (14) to victory by two strokes in the pro-am team event with a net score of 16-under-par 54.

The pros associated with the first five in this competition each received £166 - Matheson, A McCloskey and L Gaughan (56) and S Clelland and N Huguet (58).
