More Dorset glory for Hendriksen

Paul Hendriksen

Paul Hendriksen  showed his liking for leading Dorset courses by winning the Remedy Oak pro-am with a return of three-under-par 69.

The Ivybridge Golf Club player finished a close third at Parkstone the previous week and earlier won his only previous regional event this summer at Broadstone.

PGA Cup player Hendriksen, who is invariably the man to watch each time he tees up, made an early start at the tenth hole and retained his lead all day. He made six birdies, four on his way out, and completed his most successful day of the season by leading the third placed team to bank £910 for his efforts.

He beat another Devon player Kevin Harper (East Devon) by one shot. Harper made four of his five birdies  on  the front nine but his fifth on the last proved crucial as it kept him ahead of home assistant Dominic Knight, veteran Stuart Little (Minchinhampton New) and in-form Giuseppe Licata (Chipping Sodbury).

A trio of local players, Paul Jones (Ashley Wood), Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) and Mark Wiggett (Dudsbury), joined Welshman Richard Dinsdale (Asbri Golf) on 73 in seventh.

Former Broadstone club professional Mathew Wilson, now representing Callaway Golf, led the winning team of Lee Comer, Paul Hanham and Lloyd Fitzgerald on 22-under-par 94.

Watson’s trio of Richard Matthews, Bill Loughrey and Steve Norman were three shots behind while Hendriksen’s group of David Clarke, Carl Billings and Gary Savin pipped the team of Mark Russell, Martin Lown and Peter Jones on countback after both had carded 88.
