Musselburgh Golf Club duo Norman Huguet and Cameron Marr will be away from home territory in this year’s Golfbreaks.com PGA Fourball Championship Scottish Qualifier.

The event is usually staged at the Edinburgh venue, but a clash with the U.S. Kids Golf European qualifier meant that it was shifted to Cawder Golf Club.

Now the Glasgow venue will stage the competition on June 14 - and teams from Scotland will be aiming for a place in the BMW-supported final to be held at Belton Woods Golf Club in Lincolnshire on August 29-31.

“We couldn’t hold the qualifier this year unfortunately because we had the U.S. Kids Championship qualifier on at the time so they had to move the venue,” said Huguet who says the event could move back to Musselburgh next year.

“We certainly hope it’ll be back, just as long as the dates work next year, but we just had the clash this time and couldn’t do it. I’ve played Cawder a few times, but Cameron’s never played there.”

But Huguet and Marr will be hoping for a return to the final.

“We’ve qualified for the final four times now I think, and we’re definitely hopeful that we can do it again this year,” added Huguet.

“At the moment, we’ve both been playing okay, but just not had chance to get out that often due to work commitments.

“So we’ll be hoping to get a bit of practice in before the qualifier comes along. But we know each other’s game.”

Other teams from Scotland set to play at Cawder Golf Club include: Jonathan Porteous (Craigielaw Golf Club) and Paul Malone (Braid Hills Golf Range); James Steven (Pumpherston Golf Club) and Fraser McKenna (Caldwell Golf Club); Gavin Still  (Turriff Golf Club) and James Calam (Duff House Royal Golf Club); and Tom Melville and Charles Dernie (Blairgowrie Golf Club)
