Hannah Woodley, the latest member of the PGA in England and Wales (South West and Wales) staff, is a champion in her own right.

Since joining regional manager Robert Moss as tournament organiser at the regional base at Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf Club in East Devon, she has won her fourth Somerset county championship in five years, the third in succession.

Hannah, 30, has been involved in golf since her teenage years. She worked in the professional shop at Tiverton for three years, attempted to earn a card on the Ladies European Tour and has always had a yearning to forge a career in the sport.

“This was the perfect opportunity,” she said. “I was looking for an opening in golf and this was perfect.”

She lives at Bridgwater, has been a member at Enmore Park with a handicap of 0.6 since she took up the game and has represented the county for many years.

New tournament director ontroller Josh Budz, 23, is also an accomplished golfer – he plays off seven at Little Aston Golf Club where his father was an assistant professional. But he is better known as an excellent  ice hockey player. He has played for Telford, Solihull, Nottingham, Coventry and Great Britain.

Now he has relocated to Exmouth where he has become tournament controller for the PGA in the West.

He comes from Birmingham and spent the last three years working in the national PGA tournaments department at The Belfry. “This was too good an opportunity to miss and a step up,” he said.

The staff is completed by Penny Lawrence who has now served three regional managers as the office secretary.
